Lisa Hill, LMFTIn psychotherapy, therapists help people of all ages live happier, healthier and more productive lives. Therapists apply research-based techniques to help people develop more effective habits. There are several approaches to psychotherapy. I apply a psychodynamic and cognitive behavior approach to help people work through their problems. Psychotherapy is a collaborative treatment based on the relationship between an individual and a therapist. As a licensed individual, marriage, and family therapist, I provide a supportive environment that allows my clients to talk openly with someone who is objective, neutral, and nonjudgmental. My practice focus is working with people who are transitioning from one season in life to another. This includes people who have been involved in social services, juvenile justice and criminal justice systems, survivors of trauma, and people who have experienced a sudden life-style change.
My model, called “Metamorphosis,” is a four-step process. The first step, called Explorer, allows the client to discover the troubling issue(s). The second step, Learner, gives the client an opportunity to learn the best ways to address problems. Metamorphosis is the third step. This is the time when clients actively work on issues using evidence-based strategies. The final step is called Maturation. It is during this time when the clients have an understanding of what the issues are, have successfully and proficiently used strategies to mitigate the problems and the client and therapist agrees that the client is ready to transition out of therapy. I believe that life is a journey. Sometimes the path gets uncomfortable and even scary. I will journey with the client. Accordingly, choosing the right therapist is important. Deciding to work with a therapist is primarily based on the client’s level of personal comfort with the therapist. I look forward to your metamorphosis! |
